Department of Soil Conservation and Watershed Management Research

Although the researches related to soil protection and watershed have started scattered since the second half of the 60s in Fars province, but the recorded activities are related to 1979. In this year, "soil conservation and watershed" research was formed as a research subgroup in Fars province. After being promoted to a department, this group started its activity independently in 1992.

The Department of Soil Conservation and Watershed Management Research with the support of expert forces, 2 research stations, the erosion and sedimentation laboratory, water and soil monitoring equipment and 41 years of educational, executive and research experience has the ability to conduct research, training, consultation, study, design, monitoring and evaluation of projects related to flood, climate, drought, erosion, sedimentation, biological methods of soil protection, water resources management, etc. in the area of watersheds of Fars province. The introduction of flood expansion as a simple, low-cost and operational method for managing aquifers, especially in desert areas, is the most significant achievement of this department.
