Darab Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Station is one of the oldest, most important and largest research complexes in the field of agriculture in the country, which started in 1959 under the title of Darab Seedling and Seed Improvement Research Center. This research group currently has three stations, Hassanabad, Bakhtajerd and Ghiashi, whose administrative headquarters is located in Hassanabad station, located 25 kilometers northwest of Darab city.

Considering the needs and priorities of Fars province in order to solve the problems of different agricultural sectors, the strategy of this research group focuses on increasing productivity in the agricultural sector with an emphasis on applied research in two dimensions, crop improvement and breeding. In this regard, Darab researchers have a close relationship with the relevant research institutions in the country and the international institutions CIMMYT and ICARDA by conducting joint research in the field of genetics of various crops such as wheat, barley, canola, safflower, sesame, cotton, etc. These activities led to the introduction of new commercial cultivars that are resistant to living and non-living stresses, which have played a significant role in preserving basic resources and reducing the cost and sustainability of production in the agricultural sector.
